About the role


Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Hospice Business Office Manager to lead the financial and administrative operations of our hospice care facility. In this vital role, you will oversee fiscal management, medical office functions, and human resources activities to ensure smooth and compliant business practices. Your leadership will support the delivery of compassionate hospice services by maintaining efficient office workflows, managing budgets, and supervising administrative staff. Duties

  • Oversee all financial management activities, including budgeting, billing, accounts receivable/payable, and financial reporting to ensure fiscal health and compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Supervise medical administrative support staff, including receptionists, billing specialists, and office coordinators, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
  • Manage medical records and documentation processes utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Axxess, Epic, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms to ensure accuracy and HIPAA compliance.
  • Coordinate with clinical teams to streamline medical office operations, including scheduling, patient intake, and medical records management using EMR systems like Medisoft or Dentrix.
  • Administer human resources functions such as hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, and ensuring adherence to employment laws and organizational policies.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare standards including JCAHO accreditation requirements and HIPAA regulations while maintaining high-quality medical management practices.
  • Monitor utilization management processes and managed care contracts to optimize reimbursement strategies and service delivery efficiency.
  • Oversee clinic operations related to acute care services within the hospice setting, ensuring seamless integration between clinical care and administrative functions.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in medical office management or healthcare administration within a hospice or similar healthcare environment.
  • Strong fiscal management skills including budgeting, financial analysis, and revenue cycle management.
  • Supervisory experience leading administrative teams in a medical or dental office setting; familiarity with managing staff in fast-paced environments.
  • Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, eClinicalWorks, Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with hospital or clinic management is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations including HIPAA compliance and JCAHO standards; experience with utilization management is a plus.
  • Excellent understanding of medical terminology, medical records procedures, and clinical workflows in acute or hospice care settings.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail; strong organizational skills are essential.
  • Background in human resources practices within healthcare organizations especially hospice; experience with credentialing and staff development preferred.
