About the role


The primary responsibility of an Intermediate Instructional Designer is to oversee Epic ASAP training for Emergency Departments, Urgent Cares, and Behavioral Health Urgent Care facilities. This role focuses on delivering practical, workflow-oriented training to support healthcare providers, nurses, and clinical staff. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of Epic training and instructional design experience, particularly in ED or urgent care settings. Preference is given to candidates who hold Epic certification or credentials, although individuals with a strong background in Epic training and instructional design who are capable of obtaining certification are also suitable. As an Integral part of the Information & Technology Services department, the Instructional Designer Intermediate is tasked with developing and implementing training programs for software utilized within the organization. Responsibilities include designing training materials, creating educational content, configuring software environments, conducting training sessions, and addressing service inquiries. This role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance overall individual and organizational performance.

Essential Job Function:

  • Designs and enacts a software training scheme targeted at a particular Epic application(s) and other relevant ITS software, tailoring the curriculum and educational materials for diverse job functions. Partners with supervisors and analysts to select the most effective methodologies for designing training programs and educating users.
  • Delivers training and assistance to all individuals utilizing the system using various approaches including in-person classroom settings, self-paced learning, direct on-site support, review sessions, orientation for recent hires, ongoing educational opportunities, remote online training, and a mix of different training formats.
  • Oversees the organization of training activities and communication, addresses training requests, evaluates and resolves relevant service tickets, aids with help line inquiries, and interacts with different parties involved.
  • Designs, assembles, sets up, verifies, and manages the software training infrastructures, collaborating closely with application and technical teams to maintain coherence across production and training environments.
  • Involvement in the recruitment, selection, coordination, instruction, accreditation, and continual deployment of Credentialed Trainers (CTs) for aiding in super user and end user training.
  • Guarantees that CT team members are well-prepared and properly equipped to cater to specific tasks and user requirements.
  • Executes responsibilities beyond the designated ones.

Education

  • Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in relevant field

Experience

  • Required: 2 years

Licensure/Certification/Listing

  • Required: Clinical employees must maintain licensure appropriate to clinical education and training, without lapse. For Cone HealthLink (CHL) / Epic applications, must satisfactorily complete required Epic certification testing within the timeframe specified in the Epic Certification commitment policy.
