About the role


We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join our team to support the day-to-day human resources operations of the firm, with a primary focus on payroll, benefits administration, employee support, and core HR processes.

This role ensures payroll, onboarding, leave administration, and employee requests are handled accurately and on time, while maintaining compliance with firm policies and applicable laws.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Payroll, Timekeeping & Taxes

  • Process weekly payroll accurately and on schedule
  • Review and audit employee timecards and time off requests; follow up with managers and employees as needed
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure accuracy of employee data in HRIS (Paylocity)
  • Coordinate with payroll providers to resolve discrepancies, adjustments, and issues
  • Support compliance with wage and hour laws
  • Coordinate with vendors to address tax notices, corrections, or discrepancies
  • Support payroll processes involving K-1 distributions and 1099 populations, in coordination with accounting/finance

Benefits Administration

  • Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, and terminations
  • Coordinate with brokers and carriers to resolve eligibility, coverage, and claims issues
  • Support open enrollment, including employee communications and system updates
  • Maintain accurate benefits records and assist with reconciliations

Leave of Absence & Workers’ Compensation

  • Administer and track employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, short-term disability, and other leave types
  • Serve as point of contact for employees regarding leave processes and documentation requirements
  • Coordinate with third-party administrators and internal stakeholders
  • Administer workers’ compensation claims, including reporting, documentation, and follow-up
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with reporting requirements

HR Operations & Employee Support

  • Respond to employee inquiries and provide guidance on HR policies and procedures
  • Maintain and update employee records in HR systems (Paylocity and NetDocs)
  • Support managers with routine employee-related matters
  • Maintain HR reports, trackers, and documentation

Compliance & Recordkeeping

  • Ensure employee files and documentation are complete, accurate, and compliant
  • Support internal audits (I-9s, personnel files, payroll records)
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee information and HR data

Recruitment Support

  • Open job requisitions and post positions in coordination with HR leadership and hiring managers
  • Review resumes and conduct initial screening for staff roles
  • Coordinate and schedule interviews; manage candidate communications
  • Maintain applicant tracking records and ensure accurate documentation
  • Support offer preparation and pre-employment processes

Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Coordinate onboarding for new hires, ensuring completion of required documentation and system setup
  • Facilitate communication between HR, IT, and hiring managers for new hire readiness
  • Process employee separations, including system updates and documentation
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of onboarding and offboarding processes

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and workflows
  • Assist in developing and maintaining HR procedures and documentation
  • Support other HR projects and initiatives as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of HR experience, with strong exposure to payroll, benefits, and HR operations
  • Experience working in a professional services environment (e.g., law firm) is desirable, but not required
  • Strong understanding of payroll processing, timekeeping, and wage and hour compliance
  • Experience supporting or processing multi-state payroll
  • Familiarity with payroll tax concepts and reporting requirements
  • Working knowledge of benefits administration and leave of absence laws (FMLA, ADA)
  • Experience with HRIS/payroll systems (e.g., Paylocity or similar)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
