Job Description

A FinOps Analyst within Cloud Operations typically functions as the bridge between engineering, finance, and business teams to manage and optimize cloud expenditures.

Core Responsibilities

Cost Optimization: Identify and implement strategies to reduce cloud spend without sacrificing performance, such as rightsizing resources and managing commitment plans (e.g., Savings Plans or Reserved Instances).
Visibility & Reporting: Create and maintain dashboards to provide transparency into cloud usage and spending across different business units.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Collaborate with finance to establish cloud budgets and develop predictive models for future spending based on consumption trends.
Governance & Policy: Enforce tagging standards and financial governance policies to ensure accurate cost allocation and accountability.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Cloud Proficiency: Hands-on experience with major providers like Azure (a common focus for NYL) or AWS.
Analytical Tools: Mastery of data visualization and analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, and BI platforms (e.g., Power BI or Tableau).
FinOps Knowledge: Familiarity with the FinOps Foundation framework and certifications like FinOps Certified Practitioner is highly preferred.
Collaborative Mindset: Ability to translate technical cloud metrics into actionable financial insights for senior leadership.
