Job Title: Part-Time HR Generalist (In-Office)
Location: Pikesville, MD
Schedule: 20–25 hours per week

We are a growing law firm with approximately 14 in-office employees and 3 remote team members. We pride ourselves on maintaining a professional, collaborative work environment and are seeking a dedicated HR professional to help support and strengthen our internal operations.
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Part-Time HR Generalist to manage all core human resources functions. This role will be responsible for recruiting support, payroll administration, employee relations, and the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
This is an in-office role and is ideal for a self-starter who is comfortable working independently and building HR processes within a small organization.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Hiring
- Review and screen resumes and applications
- Conduct initial candidate screenings and coordinate interviews
- Manage background checks and pre-employment processes
- Assist with onboarding and new hire documentation
Payroll & Benefits Administration
- Process and manage payroll accurately and on schedule
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with applicable laws
- Administer employee benefits, including PTO tracking and 401(k) coordination
- Serve as point of contact for payroll and benefits-related questions
HR Policies & Compliance
- Develop, implement, and maintain employee handbook and HR policies
- Ensure compliance with federal, state (Maryland), and local employment laws
- Maintain employee records and HR documentation
Employee Relations
- Serve as a resource for employee questions and HR-related concerns
- Assist with performance management and disciplinary processes
- Help foster a positive and professional workplace culture
Qualifications
- 3+ years of HR experience (Generalist experience preferred)
- Experience processing payroll required
- Strong knowledge of HR practices and employment laws
- Experience developing HR policies and procedures preferred
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Comfortable working independently in a small office environment
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly Rate: $25–$35/hour (based on experience)
