About the role


Credit Risk Management Department Opportunity

The successful candidate will join Prosper's Credit Risk Management Department. The team leverages advanced analytics tools, cutting edge data and techniques to develop credit strategies that govern automated credit decisions in Prosper's online marketplace. A Credit Risk Senior Analyst at Prosper can apply advanced statistical techniques, algorithms, and industry tools to develop solutions that predict and prevent credit risk associated with Prosper Personal Loans and Credit Cards products. An ideal candidate should have strong hands-on analytical skills and a passion for solving problems in innovative and effective ways. The faster and more agile risk strategies keep our marketplace competitive and ensure that we continue to deliver on our mission of advancing financial well-being.

We are open to hiring at a Sr. Credit Risk Analyst or Credit Risk Analyst level.

Sr. Analyst - Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of working experience or Master's degree with 3+ years of working experience

Analyst - Bachelor's or plus degree and 2+ years of working experience

How you'll make an impact

  • Develop credit strategies to improve the credit performance by using data, machine learning models and advanced analytics tools to optimize risk decisions
  • Lead end-to-end risk and analytics strategy for Prosper's Credit Card, from pre-launch through portfolio optimization, including underwriting policies, pricing and credit line strategies, and acquisition frameworks that balance growth targets with risk parameters
  • Bring innovative/out of the box thinking to make recommendations and to approaching/solving problems
  • Design A/B tests and understand the risk-return trade-offs
  • Partner with Product, Marketing and Engineering teams to implement strategies and monitor the strategy performance
  • Continue to innovate by testing new data, analytics approaches and models
  • Conduct ad-hoc analysis related to risk management, investor services, product, and operations
  • Analyze portfolio performance at a granular segment level on an ongoing basis. Identify trends and conduct root-cause analysis to isolate key performance driver
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to the Risk Management and broader Prosper community

Skills that will help you thrive

  • Sr. Analyst level: Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or Economics and 5+ years relevant experience managing credit/ fraud risk OR a Master's degree in above areas with 3+ years relevant experience
  • Analyst level: Bachelor's degree in above areas with 2+ years relevant experience managing credit/ fraud risk OR a Master's degree in above areas with less experience
  • Experience in credit risk management and/or fraud and/or data science in consumer lending industry, consumer credit card experience is a plus
  • Background in product launches, new portfolio buildout, or go-to-market analytics is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience using machine learning and statistical models to develop strategies
  • Must have strong proficiency in SQL, Python and Tableau. Knowledge of R and Knowledge Seeker will be a plus
  • Fiserv and/or FICO fraud tool experience is a plus
  • Strong communication skills ability to communicate technical subject matter clearly and succinctly to other team members and Senior Management team
  • Knowledge and experience of segmentation, statistical procedures, and financial analytic tools are required
  • Curious to ask questions, probe into reasons and challenge the status quo

$102,000 - $161,000 a year Compensation details: The salary range for the Credit Risk Analyst is $102,000 - $132,000 annually, plus bonus and generous benefits. The salary range for the Sr. Credit Risk Analyst is $129,000 - $161,000 annually, plus bonus and generous benefits. In determining your salary, we will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
